Ezra has been told about this, but I want it in the official list of
things to fix.
The method lpr and lpq use to find the default printer using Hesiod is
broken, and has been as long as I've been working at athena. It
should be fixed to expect that the "lpr" entry in the machine's
cluster info is the name of the default printer.
When this is done, we can make default printers work in the clusters.
