What were you trying to do?
I had included the line 'set skip-initial-xterm' in my .environment
file and it worked under Release 6.3B.
What's wrong:
I got a non-zero return code several times when logging in. In order
to log in, I had to select the SYSTEM option which ignored my customization
files. When I removed the line, I was able to log in normally. This happened to me on both VAXes and RTs. The console window gave me an error message of syntax error for this line.
What should have happened:
The initial xterm process should have been suppressed. Then I could
invoke 'xterm -sb' from the window manager menu when I did want a window. By
the way I have no problems calling a window from my menu.
