What were you trying to do?
Dialing in at about 9:24 or 9:25 pm Tue Mar 6.
What's wrong:
Instead of a normal pasta-pad prompt, I got garbage (sort of like the
stuff that comes up when one hangs up). I wouldn't have sent this in,
cause i thought it was something wrong with my line for that one try
(and it probably still is), but then I decided to look in
/usr/adm/messages:
Mar 6 17:47:50 e40-008-7 vmunix: se0 transmit hang
Mar 6 18:09:25 e40-008-7 login: ROOT LOGIN (krb) ttyp1 from TOTO.MIT.EDU, mar.root@ATHENA.MIT.EDU.

Mar 6 18:28:49 e40-008-7 vmunix: se0 transmit hang
Mar 6 18:40:30 e40-008-7 vmunix: se0 transmit hang
Mar 6 18:47:53 e40-008-7 vmunix: se0 transmit hang
Mar 6 18:57:53 e40-008-7 last message repeated 3 times
Mar 6 19:34:01 e40-008-7 vmunix: se0 transmit hang
Mar 6 19:38:21 e40-008-7 last message repeated 2 times
Mar 6 21:24:18 e40-008-7 vmunix: se0 transmit hang
That last message may be the one where I hung up after not being abled
to understand what was going on. Actually, the weird thing was that it
seemed to be giving me a prompt -- but in a different language. I got:
aifbisap if oopofger
fgjfjifpojpo[fo[jfgi
ofijgaofifdhg:
And everytime I pressed return I got the exact same thing (even the same
weird characters -- they weren't normal ASCII like this).
What should have happened:
The normal CPT prompt should have come up:
LASAGNE-PAD>
or whichever.
