On my 6.4R VS3100, when I do:
Toto>ar rv libkrb.a read_service_key.o
a - read_service_key.o
ar: filename read_service_key.o truncated to read_service_ke
Toto>
It duplicates the file instead of replacing it [listing truncated]:

It added read_service_key.o to the archive as a second file named
"read_service_ke" instead of putting this new version in in place of
the older one. I suspect this is because it is comparing the
truncated name against the full name somewhere.
