Subject: Parallax X server should default to DGOV mode, and allow more control

The X11R3 Parallax server starts out in EGOV (enable graphics
over video) mode. This allows drawing into video windows, as opposed to
DGOV (deny graphics over video) mode, which doesn't. While perhaps
better from a theoretical standpoint, EGOV pictures are necessarily of
poorer quality than DGOV pictures. Since in most cases the video window
is used in isolation, DGOV should be the default.
In fact, the server doesn't provide a facility to switch into
DGOV mode. Nor does it provide easy control of the dithering modes. I
have found that dithering luminance + chrominance (not the default)
provides pictures that appear better to the eye, though are worse for
image processing operations.
The grayscale mode is also very easy on the eyes. It should
also be available.
