The problem you described is not a bug per se, although it may be a
"known problem" that isn't going to get resolved.
The olcr client caches instance information so that it knows what
instance it is currently using (since the instance has to be included
as part of olc requests). If you change instances in one window in a
way that makes a given instance invalid, and then try to use another
window that thinks it still is using that instance, the messages you
were given result. You can switch to instance 0 (or to any other
instance you know is valid) to solve the problem.
Perhaps the client should print a warning and then ask you for an
instance to switch to, or something like that, but that's a discussion
for olcd, not for bugs.
