What were you trying to do?
run LaTeX within my emacs window using C-c C-r
What's wrong:
using C-c C-r creates a .dvi file with a name of the form
/tmp/#tz000000.dvi. Xdvi won't accept a file with a "#" as its
leading character. I could rename the file and then run xdvi, but
then it won't be updated automatically when I LaTeX the file again.
So as it stands, my options are to latex the file in an xterm
window, or change the compile-command-string and use M-x compile.
What should have happened:
C-c C-r should create a .dvi file with a name that is compatible
with the xdvi command. Otherwise, it seems kind of silly to have
this option.
Alternatively, the default compile-command-string for .tex files
should be "latex foo.tex".
