What were you trying to do?
I was using olc this time, but the problem occurs on other
occasions when I use "more". I was going through an olc log. Olc pipes
it's stuff through "more". I believe that this bug always occurs when
I'm on the last line of the log when I get the more prompt.
What's wrong:
When I exit more, it does a carriage return but not a newline.
At least, that's what it looks like. Here, for example, is what my
window looks like just before I reach the end of the file being
displayed:

I don't know where my cursor is; where it belongs, I suppose; but the
whole line is reverse video, as it ought to be.

At this point, pressing "return" will scroll my window up normally, but
the "more" prompt, in reverse video, scrolls up along with everything else.
What should have happened:
The "more" prompt should go away and leave me to my program prompt.
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
man more; man xterm?
I don't do anything with my dot files that should be affecting this.
But they should all be world-readable if you want to have a look.
