the problem is with "nueng" and not with athena; you should send
e-mail directly to your friend's username at
nueng.coe.northeastern.edu and your friend should pester the
postmaster on that sun cluster to fix the problem.
(to wit, they are sending mail without a fully-qualified domain name
in the header; i am fairly certain they know this ... )

My friend in Northeastern sent me a message to which I reply by "repl" command. But I got an error message which reads "550 <ueung@nueng.MIT.EDU>... Host unknown."
I asked OLC and Ken Duda suggested me to send you a copy of the header of the message which my friend sent me for your investigation.
