Logging into hector today proved to be difficult today. I had root
tickets at the time, so login wouldn't let me login as jackal without
a passwd. This was understandable. I typed my passwd nad it said
"login incorrect" and asked for my login. I typed jackal to the login
prompt and my passwd to the passwd prompt, but my login was still
incorrect. I was able to login as root with my tickets and found I
did have an entry in /etc/passwd with a * in the passwd field. So, it
seems that since I had some tickets, it wouldn't go to kerberos to
check my login when those tickets wouldn't work. When I didn't have
any tickets at all (gotten rid of by kdestroy) it accepted my passwd
and let me login.
