xmh exhibits a hostile failure mode:

	X Toolkit Error: Cannot perform malloc
	[2]    Exit 1               ( setenv PRINTER=nil-gateway; xmh )

this happened on a view-message button press,
thereby throwing away an hour of marking 
various mail messages for deletion, refiling,
and so ^*&$#*%#$& forth.
