Incorporating mail while over quota

I just lost two pieces of mail by trying to incorporate them while over
my disk quota. A friend of mine who is an Athena consultant told me
simply "You aren't supposed to do that." I have no idea who these
messages were from, nor any indication of their contents.

It seems to me that such an irreversible action should at least be
accompanied by a warning, if not by the mail-handler itself (e.g.
"Can't incorporate mail, over quota"), at least in the Essential Mail
documentation!

Postmaster, I realize that you are probably not responsible for
interactions between the Athena mail system and the Athena quota system,
but I'm hoping that you might know someone who is and forward this letter
to them.
