all this means is that the DNS answer for the name query was received
after the hostinfo got tired of waiting for it.   domains not
currently in the cache (particularly top-level ones like .JP.) get
looked up in the root nameservers, and if the network is slow your
reply will be delayed.  i was able to resolve this name on the first
try just now, but this isn't always the case (and yes, i deal with
hosts in obscure domains all the time).  

if you had done a hostinfo *after* you did the telnet you would have
found the information you were looking for (how do you think telnet
resolves the name?)
