I'm the original author of that code. And I sent fixes for this to
both bugs and the X consortium a year ago. Why is it that we can fix
bugs in the server & library, but aren't willing to touch applications
from the X consortium?
We don't fix bugs in the library and server, without going through the
Consortium. All our library fixes have come from a later Consortium
release than the one that may be distributed, but they are *NOT* ours as
a general rule. The only server fixes that have been made are those to
the IBM server, and our IBM server sources are the ones that are now
being distributed by IBM... (they have agreed to take anything we give
them).
Unless there is some channel for getting the fixes supported by the
Consortium or the vendor, we have not used them... The only exceptions
to this, are:
- Terry's significant performance improvement to text routines
(one file)
- A couple minor changes to support a GCC build
