I am unable to have both an emacs and a gcc going at the same time.
I'm on a vaxstation II running 6.3B editing files in an AFS locker.
I should have a 1 meg cache for AFS.
this doesn't happen to me all the time, but it tends to happen to
me after 4 or 5 hours of working (even if I have a fresh emacs with only
1 file in it, and a gcc on a fairly small program accessing 6 or 7
libraries).

PS: I've heard similar problems from other users of old
vaxstation II's with small disk drives.
