Professor Jeff Lang reported that when his workstation was reinstalled,
he was unable to log in; his session hung after the "setting up
environment" line.

The culprit appears to be the "attach lees" command in his .environment.
lees is on
    FILSYS: AFS /afs/lees.mit.edu/user w /mit/lees

Checking on dale (9.4.51) versus geskekelud (9.4.50), "attach lees" hung
on the former, and set up /mit/lees on the latter. However, on
geskekelud, running ls inside /mit/lees gave a "timed out" error.

Now, however, lees.mit.edu seems to have recovered, and the locker
attaches and doesn't time out on both machines, so it's stopped being
replicable.

This is presumably due to the update in openAFS; it may become a problem
the next time one of our normal fileservers falls over?
