fair enough.  BUT...

i'm very interested in answers to these questions:

what did we gain by the recent changes that broke the unsupported 
functionality?

is there a way to keep those gains without losing the unsupported 
functionality?

were the changes announced to the user base for comments and time to 
prepare for them?
