My apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
The ability to add strings that weren't strictly of the
"username@hostname.com" to moira lists has always been considered
unsupported, and at this time we don't plan to reinstate that
functionality. A suitable workaround, list member tags, does exist if
you choose to use it for this purpose, as I believe Laura has already
pointed at to you.
The ability to maintain a list with tagged via a text file is a
reasonable enhancement request, and I'll consider it for future work for
moira, but don't plan to implement in the short term.
