When the screensaver (what's the verb? "times in"?) starts to paint
over the screen with the background, it isn't watching for incoming
events until it finishes. So if you've got a large bitmap (which
slows down the redisplay considerably) you can often hit a key and
have to wait for it to finish blanking the screen before it will
restore it...
