Athena has tetex 2.0.1, dating from Feb 2003. The current tetex is
3.0po, from May 2006.
Will 9.9 move to tetex 3.0?
Also, apparently tetex is no longer maintained,
and Thomas Esser (the "te" in "tetex") recommends TeXLive
instead. cf.
