the bug seems to be fixed in sun's 3.4 release. i ran 6 hammers on two client
machines, and 1 hammer on the server, looped-back to itself. i ran them for
a few good licks: 519 successes ( file-writes w/o zero-blocks), and no failures
so, the next step is to get sun's patch applied to a sun 3.2 net.
this will finally tell us whether to expect that porting 3.2 will save our
collective ass. -don
