Hi,
The non-architecture-specific wrapper scripts for ooffice and soffice:
/afs/athena.mit.edu/software/ooffice/arch/share/bin/wrapper
/afs/athena.mit.edu/software/soffice/arch/share/bin/wrapper
Give errors of the form:
> There doesn't appear to be an executable called wrapper for ooffice

[The soffice wrapper gives the additonal text:
"Cannot find text message file /mit/soffice/Athena/messages/avail8.0"]
The is a reasonable error, but the problem regards an OLC user trying
to open .doc files automatically from the Firefox browser. In Mozilla,
one can enter the command "/mit/soffice/arch/@sys/bin/soffice" in the
"Open with..." dialog box, and this string will be stored verbatim and
run successfully. However, in Firefox, this command string is parsed
and converted to the above wrapper command, and attempted to be executed
as such; this does not work, giving the error quoted above.
I'm not sure whether there is a workaround in Firefox. If it is possible
to enable wrapper scripts for ooffice/soffice, this would solve the issue.
If there is no workaround at this time, I will inform the user as such,
but I think it would generally be useful for it to be possible to open
.doc files automatically from Firefox on Athena.
Thanks,
