I've been making my mouse lefty on athena using gnome-mouse-settings .
gnome-mouse-settings only changes one mouse to be lefty. There are two
mouse devices in the xorg.conf file, both reading from /dev/input/mice.
Ergo, if a mouse is switched to lefty, a single click sends conflicting
signals of some sort, and is unusable. Deleting the extra mouse from
xorg.conf seems to fix the problem.
