I'm currently away from campus, so I only have access over X, and to
(at newest) a 9.4.11 machine. I tried again, and noticed that only
one of the .__afsXXXX files is created per acroread session, and it
appears to be created when acroread is opened, judging by the time
stamp. So perhaps acroread is doing something on startup with a
temporary file in my homedir, that is then being removed improperly?
Contrary to what I'd thought, it doesn't appear to matter how many
PDF files are opened, or which. The file is left even when no PDF's
are opened in the acroread session.
There's no reason why, or evidence that, my PDF files are being deleted.
Interestingly, I tried this with the paco account, and saw that a
file called "RSS" was created in the homedir upon exiting. This
does not occur with my account. Since paco is a shared OLC test
account, though, this file could have been created by someone else;
although the contents of the file do have to do with acrobat (below).
I'll try this on a 9.4.12 machine on Tuesday when I return to campus.
Thanks,
