Oh and now even though I updated the /etc/sysconfig/athconfig file thee
computer stull does not recognize chars after the 8th. Are you sure this
is not a bug?

Well, it's Red Hat's decision, not ours, but I assume the reasoning is
that if you want to share a passwd file between Red Hat Linux and
another system which doesn't support MD5 passwords, you can't be using
MD5 passwords.
