Hi.
There is a bug in sawfish which causes it to load the same font
repeatedly, triggering the problem you described. The problem
apparently became worse following a recent patch release, which
added font paths to xfs' configuration. I have checked in a patch
to sawfish which fixes the bug; this fix will be deployed in an
upcoming patch release.
