I ran "update_ws" on my machine, and after it succeeded, "shutdown -r
now". During the shutdown process, it failed to unmount the AFS
cache, claiming that it was in use; this seems fairly common.
However, after this, nothing more happened for several minutes, except
that the lights on the keyboard flashed irregularly (sometimes fast,
sometimes slow). Eventually, I power-cycled the machine and
everything seems okay now.
Nothing else was displayed on the console, and nothing interesting
showed up in /var/log/messages (I think syslog was shut down before
this point).
