I cannot convince X to turn off beeping on VAXen. I've tried both
xset b 0 0 0
and
xset -b
Both of these work on RTs.
I understand that it is hardwarily impossible to change the pitch, volume, or
duration of the bell on VAXen, but it should always be possible to turn beeping
off completely.
Please forward this to the X Consortium if it's a bug in the VAX X server. I
really think this should be fixed.
