What were you trying to do?
I was trying to use mtoolsfm to transfer files to and from floppy disk to and
from my Athena locker.
What's wrong:
mtoolsfm did not display contents of floppy, thus I could not do file
transfers.
What should have happened:
It should have displayed contents of floppy in one one of the two mtoolsfm
windows, so that user could transfer files back and forth.
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
Notes: It appears that mtoolsfm works fine on Sun Blades 100 and 150, as well as
Sun Ultras. It is only PCs that seem to have the problem. I believe the problem
first appeared shortly after the Athena update on Tuesday of last week. This
has been reported to Athena consulting but I have not heard back from them yet.
This is of interest to me because foreign students visting MIT in early August
will be issued Athena accounts. mtoolsfm would be useful as some of them may
not be familiar with dos and unix commands. In particular it would be helpful
if there were an ETA of when mtoolsfm might or might not be fixed so that I can
best prepare the visiting students, either to advise using mtoolsfm or show
them how to use mtools. Thank you.
