read a man page on a linux machine
What's wrong:
many if not all man pages on linux are currently broken (try
(add java_v1.4.2_03; man java); you get an error message like
"iconv: illegal input sequence at position 251" instead of a
man page.
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
I've seen this commented on on the Web in various places; something
about "locale problems in RedHat 9"- don't recall details. However
I believe setting LANG to en-US.UTF-8 fixes the problem. If this
doesn't have other side-effects, can we set this in the release?
