Hi Andrew,

Using the version 2 installer seems to have worked.  It's certainly acting
like it's doing something.  The next step will be to let it finish and to
see how it does on an update.  However I think I'm past the big hurdle.

Do you want any details on this hardware or any other access to help you
with debugging the installer?  If so, please let me know.
