What were you trying to do?
I am an Athena Consultant. I wanted to reproduce an error
first created by a user who simply re-organized some files
in his account, while using the gnome-panel and sawfish.
What's wrong:
1) Set a background image for gnome-panel under
Right-click-panel->Properties->Background->Type: Image,
2) Move the chosen image to a different directory or delete it
3) Kill the gnome-panel process or choose EXIT or logout
4) Log back in or run gnome-panel
Result) gnome-panel will crash and fail to re-appear as before;
there is a jumble of error messages in the console or terminal
that I have included at the bottom of this report.
note: steps 2 and 3 can be reversed.
What should have happened:
This may be a big request, but gnome-panel should run anyway without
the requested background image. As it is, the average user might
not understand the error messages. Also, the only way to remedy
the situation (to run gnome-panel at all) is to put some random
image of the same type in the same location.
Since I'm not sure what you wonderful people at I/S would do
about this, I typed up a bug report very similar to this and
already submitted it to gnome's bugzilla site. Bug #126445.
You can do as you please with either of my bug reports.
