Ahem.  The most appropriate bug report for this bug would be a one liner,
reading simply:

	Stever is submitting a generic bug report.

However, that would be as useless to you as this error message was to me.

My goal:  to logout and log in again without breaking my net connection.
My solution:  to type "login stever" to my shell.

It asked for my password.  So far, so good.  I typed it.  And got an
error.  I finally had to disconnect and reconnect to get things working.

My feature request:  a better error message for this case.  The only
error message I've ever seen that was as uninformative to me, a
terribly naive UNIX weenie, was one I got once reading "msgchk: You lose!"
