Sorry for the slow response time.
XFree86 3.x made some incompatible and undocumented changes to xclock in
order to support anti-aliased fonts and other rendering options. This
is annoying, but we're unlikely to do anything to fix it.
Set XClock*render: false and I think the font resource will start
working again. By default, it only pays attention to the "face"
resource (-face or -fa command-line option), which is a fontconfig font
name.
