Hi Bharath,

You say:

I can't reproduce this (client is my Laptop running stock RedHat 8)-
it works fine for me. I tried running on both a Sun and Linux Athena
machine- works fine on both. Although I'm running a different RedHat
release from the two you mention, I thing it's pretty unlikely that
that's related to the problem.

When you say remotely, where is that? on or off-campus? Are you connecting
through some commercial ISP or Tether? Is your network connection generally
fast and reliable, or slow and lossy? This could have some bearing on this.

A couple of suggestions-

1. Try again. We made a change to Matlab since yesterday for another issue
and it might affect yours- but it may not help your situation.

2. Try starting matlab by typing "add matlab_v6.5; matlab" instead of
"add matlab; matlab". It might make a difference, might not.

3. Have you tried using kerberized telnet? You'd need to install it (and a
couple of related rpms) on your client machine, and put it earlier in your
path than RedHat's telnet. You'll probably need the following Athena rpms:
athena-base, athena-hesinfo, athena-hesiod, athena-krb5. athena-krb5 includes
kinit, and it you use that to get tickets and have a srvtab on your Athena
machine, you can use the athenized telnet client to telnet right in without
retyping your password.

Please let me know if it just started working due to the change we
made, or if not, if method 2. or 3. fix it.
