What were you trying to do? Reproducing a problem the user reported
in the OLC queue: the deskguide applet doesn't work on Suns running X
in 8-bit mode. 8-bit mode is necessary for some software the user
needs to run for a class, although he didn't say what. (Autocad comes
to mind)
What's wrong:
Upon login, when the panel tries to run deskguide_applet itself:
"Deskguide (the desktop pager) applet appears to have died
unexpectedly. Reload this applet?"
or, when running the command deskguide_applet on the command line:
Gdk-ERROR **: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
serial 781 error_code 8 request_code 131 minor_code 3
I haven't been able to reproduce this bug on Linux Athena machines.
