Hi. There used to be a bug where the task bar would disappear from the
panel, but that bug was fixed a long time ago. It's possible that you
removed it by mistake, or that there's a similar bug (which we haven't
fixed) with the same result, or you used an old machine.
Anyway, it's easy enough to get back, once you know how. Right click on
a blank area of the panel (the bottom bar) and select:
Add to panel -> Applet -> Utility -> Tasklist
