You're right; he added a "source .login" line at the end of his .cshrc.
Incidentally, are old versions of the dotfiles stored somewhere
accessible? His dot.cshrc was based on version 1.14, and comparing it
against version 1.15 in /usr/prototype_user made things more complicated
than they needed to be.
