What's wrong:
something complained:
dircolors: /etc/DIR_COLORS: Permission denied
egrep: /etc/DIR_COLORS: Permission denied
so I checked:
# ls -l /etc/DIR_COLORS
-rw------- 1 root root 2435 Oct 18 23:10 /etc/DIR_COLORS
Worse, this same thing happened a week or two ago, and I fixed it
then. So something is causing the problem to recur.
What should have happened:
DIR_COLORS shouldn't be getting chmod'd.
