Truth is, Garry, I'm not sure if this is something that involves a Lynx
fix at all. What I know about the internals of Lynx could fit on the head
of a pin, but Jacob Morzinski knows a fair amount about it, and I defer to
him. Here's the report we got a while back, and his reply:

Subject: Lynx and certificates?

Hi,
Sorry to bother you two; I noticed your uids all over the lynx2.8.1
and lynx-cvs directories.
For the past year I've been a happy athena user of lynx-2.7.1 built
with certificate support. This year I seem to be unable to renew my
certificate... it get to the ca.mit.edu/ncert/getcert.jsp page and it
says standby while my certificate is created, but then nothing
happens. And there are no links on that page other than to the
clock2.gif image, which I presume is just an animated clock.
Any idea what's going wrong with this? Is this related to my trying
to renew old certs rather than get new ones from scratch? I tried
moving my .lynx directory to emulate a fresh cert install, but that
didn't help. Is there any active development in getting lynx to work
with this new certificate granting set up? Or any work getting
ca.mit.edu to issue certs in a lynx friendly way? I'm familiar with
patching lynx and I'm willing to snoop my own packets, if elbow grease
is required.

Hi Erik,
I've been out of the action on Lynx for a while, so I can't offer you
much help. It's likely that the certificate-granting page stopped
working with lynx when it was redesigned recently; the network group is in
charge of that page, and I'm copying this reply to them to see if they
know anything about it.
