OK- now I understand the problem- it's from our local message system
that announces the new distill version to users the first time they run it.
Normally this wouldn't cause a problem because most apps don't use < and
> redirection- I just took out the message so this shouldn't happen again.
Sorry about that. At least I fixed 2 bugs with one bug report :-)
