Netscape 'save to disk' doesn't get along with AFS.

With a whopping 222 entries in my AFS home directory, I just have to
live with the fact that, anytime Netscape encounters a MIME type it
doesn't know what to do with, I'll need to sit with Netscape hung for
40-60 seconds while it stats everything in my home dir, gathers a lot of
info I don't care about into internal tables, throws it away, and
displays the file browser.
Heaven knows, 222 files is SUCH a large number.
Everyone knows that it's vital for file browsers to learn as much as
they can about files.
Everyone knows that stat operations must be slow and time consuming on a
distributed filesystem.
Perhaps I should handcuff myself to appropriate developers in AFS or
Netscape land until one of them either caves in to doing this right, or
gets tired of me screaming about it.
