Hello,

At olc, we've had quite a few questions where /etc/group gets a zero
length somehow. It has happened on private machines and cluster
machines, most recently today on a cluster machine:

hayden-5.mit.edu>dig -n 2000 -e group omail
omail [31516]: jfwang: can't send mail with xmh (lost /etc/group)
omail [31518]: jfwang: xmh cloberring /etc/group?
omail [31535]: jfwang: xmh/exmh erasing /etc/group
omail [31651]: tor: sendmail problem due to /etc/group problem
omail [31760]: vlorenza: group problem in sendmail / sendmail.cf
omail [31911]: behrang: /etc/group problem ; xmh?
omail [32328]: keharm: Unknown group daemon in /etc/sendmail.cf . Problem with /etc/gr
omail [32445]: sommerg: sendmail problem unknown group daemon
omail [32604]: rqwong: sendmail.cf group daemon problem
omail [32679]: xuemin: Unknown group daemon in /etc/sendmail.cf

I thought I remembered this being reported long ago, when it first
started. Maybe I am mistaken though. Has this ever been looked into? The
machine xuemin was on may still be broken if anyone wants to look at it.

Thanks,
Tom
