I don't recognize this error.  It looks like it has been retyped from
memory; I can't really look up what could cause this error message
unless I know the exact text of the error.

This one I recognize.  The /usr/athena/emacs symlink has been
deprecated since before I was a freshman.  Look for
"/usr/athena/emacs" in your .mh_profile and change it to
"/usr/athena/bin/emacs".  If it's not there, look in .environment and
.cshrc.mine.
