Shell: /bin/athena/tcsh

What were you trying to do?
get setup to use bash as my shell. in particular, I was using the
bashuser account to test a .bash_environment file.

What's wrong:
when logging in on an X display, the .bash_environment doesn't get
sourced unless the user has an appropriate .xsession

What should have happened:
it should be documented that you need to do more than just copy in a
.bash_login and .bashrc from /usr/prototype_user, and an appropriate
  .xsession file should be provided.

I don't see any very good solution to needing a specialized xsession,
but needing the specialized file to be in one's account seems bad
because then you lose if you have your shell set to tcsh on a
  particular (perhaps not 8.3) machine.

Please describe any relevant documentation references:
  the comment in /usr/prototype_user/.bashrc
