To: barkai@MIT.EDU Cc: bugs@MIT.EDU, 3partysw@MIT.EDU In-Reply-To: "[16682] in bugs" "[586] in 3partysw" Date: Thu, 11 Feb 1999 15:00:44 EST From: Abby Fox <ajfox@MIT.EDU> Thank you for reporting this. Apparently it is an SGI-specific problem, and Wolfram (the Mathematica vendor) says: The message "Internal error: FreeExpr called on live expr" means that the Mathematica kernel is releasing memory that is still being used. This should never happen under normal circumstances. If this does happen, the kernel will probably crash. Our developers are aware of this behavior, and a new MathKernel executable has been compiled that should address this problem. We'll contact them about getting the patched kernel and will let you know when it has been installed. In the meantime, I'd suggest you try your program on a Sun; I did a quick test and it seems to work (but since it takes some time to complete, you should probably aim for an Ultra rather than a Sparc).
