I talked about this with carla via zephyr earlier today, but I
figured I would send mail for the sake of posterity. The cron error in
syncer.pl was being caused by a change in behavior between perl4 and
perl5. For now, I've just pointed the script at a perl 4 interpreter,
and I'll get around to understanding and fixing the problem when I have
spare time later this week.
