I cleaned out my .netscape directory. Started up netscape (so I have
the defaults.) Then I go to URL:
http://search.mit.edu:8765/query.html?rq=0&col=webmit&col=websrvrs&op0=%2B&fl0=&ty0=p&tx0=python&op1=%2B&fl1=&ty1=w&tx1=&op2=-&fl2=&ty2=w&tx2=&dt=an&inthe=604800&amo=12&ady=31&ayr=1998&bmo=1&bdy=7&byr=1999&nh=500&rf=0&lk=1&qp=&qt=&qs=&qc=webmit+websrvrs&p
It loads to 100%.
Now, I edit preferences. I go to "Advanced" and click on the first
checkbox, which means that I'm no longer getting images when I load in
web pages.
Quit netscape and restart it.
I go to that same URL. After about 10% of the page, the URL hangs.
Actually, netscape can no longer be exited, without use of "kill -9" or
"xkill". ("kill" does not work without the -9 option)
The user that complained about this problem first said that any large
document hung netscape for him. (One example he gave was after
downloading 35K of an ftp directory listing.)
