System name: cathedral-seven.mit.edu
Type and version:	SPARC/5 8.2.8
Display type: none

What were you trying to do?
figure out wehre someone logged in from

What went wrong?
when I ran last the hostname was truncated

What should have happened?
telnet used to drop the domain name if it was mit.edu
and insert an ip addr rather than a name if the name
(with or without the domain name as appropriate) was too
long to fit in the available space

Yo, got any documentation, or other info?
I suppose it's worth noting that I don;'t think rlogin or
ssh ever did this and I think it would be useful there too,
but telnet used to (maybe before we switched to the k5 tree?)
