This may or may not be relevant...
We used to have a problem on IRIX 6.3 where the SGI-supplied
/usr/bin/X11/netscape would dump core upon exit. As I recall,
it had something to do with it having updated the user plugin-list,
which would happen if the user's previous invocation of netscape
(e.g. from a Sun) had run the version in infoagents. This problem
seemingly went away when we replaced /usr/bin/X11/netscape with an
attach-and-run script to run the netscape in infoagents.
